Committees and Governance

Given the size, scope and complexity of the Epic implementation at Stanford Hospital & Clinics, specific committees have been formed to foster decision-making, issue resolution and the development of policies and procedures.

Some of the key groups include:

Executive Sponsors
The Executive Sponsor group is the team of executives that determines the strategic direction of the Epic system and has the ultimate decision-making authority for all Epic-related activities.

Medical Informatics Directors Work Group (MIDWG)
MIDWG represents the voice of the physicians and mid-level practitioners and is charged with the oversight and development of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for that user group.

Resident Informatics Council (RIC)
The Resident Informatics Council is a group of Stanford medical and surgical residents who help guide the development, communication, training, and utilization of medical informatics tools and processes under the direction of the Stanford Medical Informatics Directors.

Ambulatory Care Steering Committee (ACSC)
The role of the Ambulatory Care Steering Committee is to provide leadership and oversight in the decision-making processes that affect the SHC clinics.

Financial Operations Work Group (FOWG)
The Financial Operations Work Group is responsible for providing oversight and direction in the areas that impact the revenue cycle. 

Order Set Oversight Committee (OSOC)
The Order Set Oversight Committee is responsible for reviewing, approving and prioritizing all requests to create new or modify existing order sets.

Prioritization Committees
The Clinical and Revenue Cycle Prioritization Committees are responsible for reviewing, approving and prioritizing all requests to enhance the Epic system at Stanford.
